Amy and Dwight moved into the Okanagan Valley in 1971 and have raised their children while working in the fruit industry.  They have an excellent  knowledge of local points of interest.

While you enjoy breakfast, you can visit with other guests or sit quietly.  At Adobe Rose B&B, we want you to feel at home.  Relax and watch the California Quail on the patio or from the large dining room window. Breakfast is also a wonderful time to plan the day..... we can help.

Amy taught two of their three children school at home while Dwight's contribution was to prepare the evening meal.  The children have long since left home, but Dwight’s love of cooking continues.  He has successfully completed "The Food Safe Sanitation Program for Food Handlers" - Okanagan Similkameen Health Region.

Home made Salsa recipe by request:

I make part of the salsa in the summer when tomatoes are tasty and local peppers and onions available.  Then, the rest of the year, I make salsa half fresh and half from canned salsa.

Summer Season Recipe (Canned):

2 green peppers, 4 medium onions, 4 jalapeno peppers and 7 lb tomatoes all diced

4 tsp salt, 1/4 cup vinegar, 5 TBsp lime juice, 3 cans tomato paste

Bring to boil and fill 500 ml jars (you should get 10 jars)

Place into the hot canner and boil for 5 minutes

If you can't do the summer recipe, just buy your favourite Picante Salsa from the store and use it instead.

Fresh Salsa Recipe:

1/2 jar of canned salsa

Dice in 2 tomatoes, 1/4 each green, red, yellow, orange peppers, 1/2 jalapeno pepper to taste, 1/2 medium onion, cilantro to taste.

Add salt and pepper and paprika, 1 TBsp vinegar and juice from 1 lime

Add about 100 ml "Extra Virgin Olive Oil" and mix thoroughly.

Keeps in the fridge 1 week.
